Cousin’s Birthday

It’s cousin M’s birthday and I’m writing a poem for her.

On your birthday the river flows

On your birthday the shells glow

On your birthday the sun shines

Or the moon dines

On your birthday you swim, swim, swim where fish schools are

You study the jungle

And blow your candles!

Happy Birthday

Saidy

Hi my – stop it! Sorry, that was my cat, Guido. My name is Saidy; I am a mini-marshmallow person—“Ow!” The cat scratched me on the face. I was taking my cat on a walk. I live in a soda can; I do not have much furniture; only a tablecloth, tables, chairs and a couch.             I went down the garden path. Our garden is huge (just to tell you this a human’s garden). Huge enough to get us lost! Guess what? At that moment I was lost. Lost in a jungle (that’s what I call it). I bumped into something. Then, I heard moaning and groaning. I looked up and saw lips opening and closing it was a dreadful sight. I went closer, the mouths opened wider, I was frightened, and then Guido jumped on me.  I got right next to the gate. To my surprise the mouths just closed! I went through the gate, to my horror the gate shut.

I was so frantic, I let go of Guido leash and he was still on the other side of the gate. My mind raced, I thought quickly. Then I did one of my high jumps. I held Guido, not by the leash, and then did the high jump again. Then I thought How would I get home? When I reached up to get an apple, I noticed a lip that started to chase me. I took my toothpick and slain the lip. I said “whew” and started crunching on my apple. All the while Guido ate a few cherries. Then I heard the bushes rustle. I thought it was a wild animal, so I ducked just in time to see a car go by. It almost ran over me. I kept on going forgetting I was lost. I found these round things. They looked like a grape except a lot bigger. I thought it probably could be a camp house. Instead it had no door. I looked on the other side, still no door. It was getting darker and I needed to find a place to sleep. Just in time I found an old can. Inside I found four sunflower seeds. I ate these for supper while Guido ate some catnip I always bring on walks. Then I took a nap. The next morning I remembered I had to get home. Since it was early winter, I was getting cold. I found a green leaf and wrapped it around myself and did the same with Guido. Guido reached for a falling leaf. Then this white stuff started falling from the sky. Once it got really close I realized it was sleet. I ran and ran away from the sleet. Soon it would build up and I would get stuck inside the ice. So, I ran and ran until I saw that the sleet had reached Guido’s ankles. I ran and ran until I reached the gate. The lips were sleeping. I quietly went through the gate. The sleet got very high. I got stuck in the sleet, head to toe. I tried to get out. But I couldn’t, so I drew my toothpick out and cut a door in the ice and got out. Lucky Guido could claw his way out.

I tried to follow my footprints, which had faded. I got pretty tiered when I found a tunnel. It was one of the rare times I was curious. So I went in and once I went an inch or two, this giant snake shaped thing appeared. It was a Ghastly unther (a Ghastly Gunther is a snake, which eats us marshmallows and are very poisonous).

I ran and it chased me until I reached a great oak tree. I scrambled all the way to the top of the tree. Oh, what a view! I could see I was not too far from my house. I swung from tree to tree. I swung on the last trees and that is where the garden ended. I jumped down and landed right in front of my front door. I rang the bell. My mom answered. I went inside and had a sip of hot chocolate. My mom’s hot chocolate is the best! Then I took a great big nap.

The End

Beach

The beach has many shells,

Behind your back are hotels,

In front of you is the ocean,

You see a dolphin moving in beautiful motion,

Up ahead there’s a boat,

Then you dig inside your tote,

and you pull out a bucket,

chomp down a donut,

stare at the sky,

and look at a little seagull fly by.

Faucet

Drip

           Drop

                       Drip

                                Drop

Water goes down the drain,

Drip

         Drop

                     Drip

                              Drop

It sounds like a little rain,

Drip

         Drop

                   Drip

                             Drop

Stop the faucet please!

Baby Green Sea Turtles

Baby green sea turtles crack out of their eggs,

Once on the beach, they see peoples’ legs,

Baby green sea turtles race from the shore,

To the ocean where fish galore,

One baby turtle got swept by a wave,

watch out turtle! There’s a shark from an underwater cave,

Baby green sea turtles are very cute,

They can even fit in a boot!

Why I Like Summer

I like summer because there is no school,

I like summer because I can jump in the pool,

I like summer because it is hot outside,

I like summer because I can surf the tide!

I like summer because we can go to the beach,

I like summer because we can play cards; 13 cards each!
